AI calling for cab booking means an AI voice assistant answers your booking line at any hour, asks the caller for pickup, drop, date, time and number of passengers, answers fare and availability questions, and hands the finished enquiry to your team or dispatch system. With MySA Business, that call is answered on your own business number, the details reach your dispatcher by email, Google Sheet, webhook or API, and a caller who wants a person can be transferred to one.

This guide is for cab, taxi and travel operators who lose bookings to missed calls. It covers what the AI does on the call, how it connects to your fares and your dispatch, and, just as importantly, what it does not do.

## Where cab operators lose bookings

The booking phone rings at the worst times: 5 am airport runs, late-night outstation enquiries, a dozen calls at once on a festival weekend. A missed call is usually a lost booking, because the customer simply rings the next operator.

The calls themselves are repetitive. Almost every one needs the same five answers: where from, where to, when, how many people and which car. That is exactly the kind of conversation an AI assistant can hold, so your dispatcher spends their time on the decisions only they can make.

## What the AI does on a cab booking call

You run [AI inbound call answering](/features/inbound-calls) on your booking number, 24/7, in the language you choose. The assistant's behaviour comes from a **purpose** you write in plain language, not a script. For a taxi desk, it might say: collect pickup point, drop point, date and time of travel, number of passengers and luggage, and preferred car type; confirm them back to the caller.

Answers to general questions, such as your car types, waiting charges or outstation policy, come only from the Business Details you approved, so the AI does not invent a fare or a rule.

> **Example**
>
> **AI:** Namaste, City Cabs mein aapka swagat hai. Aapko cab kab chahiye?
>
> **Caller:** Kal subah 5 baje, airport jaana hai. Do log hain, do bade bags.
>
> **AI:** Theek hai. Pickup ka address bata dijiye?
>
> **Caller:** Sector 21, near the market.
>
> **AI:** Kal subah 5 baje, Sector 21 se airport, do passengers, do bags. Sedan chalega ya SUV chahiye?
>
> **Caller:** Sedan. Kitna lagega?
>
> *If the operator's fare API is connected, the AI reads the fare it returns. If not, it answers from Business Details or says the team will confirm.*
>
> **AI:** Aapki details team ko bhej di hain, wo confirm karke aapko batayenge.

*City Cabs is an illustrative name, not a customer.* After the call you get a recording, an AI summary, sentiment and tags.

## Fares and availability from your own system

Fares change with distance, time of day and car type, and availability changes every minute. Those answers belong in your own system, not in Business Details. With [Custom APIs](/features/custom-apis), the AI can read them from an API you already run:

- **During the call:** when the caller names a route or asks "is an SUV free at 5 am?", the AI calls your API with those details and reads back what it returns.
- **Before the call:** for outbound calls, data known in advance, such as a customer's upcoming trip, can be fetched just before dialling.

Your workspace runs one of the two modes at a time, and an API that is slow or down never stops the call; the AI simply goes ahead without it. Custom APIs are enabled per workspace and set up by the Owner. The full explanation is in [AI calls with real-time data](/blog/ai-calls-with-real-time-data).

## Transfer to a dispatcher, and "call me later"

Some callers want a person: a corporate account with a special rate, a complaint, a complicated multi-city trip. With [call transfer](/docs/call-transfer), the Owner adds named numbers, for example **Dispatch** and **Corporate**, each with a one-line note on when to use it. The AI rings the right colleague, briefs them on who is calling and what they want, then connects the caller. Transfer minutes are billed separately at the transfer rate shown in your workspace.

When a caller says "abhi drive kar raha hoon, baad mein call karo", a [follow-up](/docs/follow-ups) call is scheduled for the time they asked, in the same language.

## How booking details reach your dispatch

Every finished call can be judged as a lead, and **Lead Feed** delivers leads to wherever your team works:

| Channel | How it arrives |
|---|---|
| Email | Up to 5 addresses, hourly or once a day, with a spreadsheet attached |
| Google Sheet | A new row for each lead, within about five minutes |
| Webhook | JSON posted to your URL within about half a minute, including the call summary |
| API | A read-only feed URL your system can poll |

A dispatch app or booking system that accepts a webhook or polls an API can pick up each enquiry from there. Lead Feed runs in the Live workspace once it is enabled; setup is in the [Lead Feed documentation](/docs/lead-feed).

## What it does not do

Be clear about the boundary before you go live:

- It **does not assign drivers** or track cars.
- It **does not create a booking inside your dispatch system** by itself. Your system picks up the details from Lead Feed, or your dispatcher enters them.
- It **does not quote a fare it was not given**. Without a fare API or fares in Business Details, it tells the caller the team will confirm.
- It **does not send SMS or email to the customer**.

Think of it as a booking desk that never misses a call and writes everything down, with your dispatcher still in charge.

## Chat enquiries and outbound calls

Many travellers message instead of calling. [WhatsApp smart reply](/features/whatsapp-smart-reply) answers each message from your Business Details in the language the customer writes, and with intent-based calling, a chat that turns into a real booking enquiry can become an AI call once the customer agrees.

For outbound work, such as calling a list of corporate clients about a new airport package or past customers before a holiday season, use [campaigns](/features/campaigns), with your DND hours respected.

## Getting started

Sign up, verify your mobile to get ₹100 of Test credit in the separate Test workspace, and add your Business Details: car types, policies and service areas. Write the booking purpose, then use **Try now** to ring your own phone and play a customer. When the calls sound right, go Live on your business number.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can an AI answer taxi booking calls at night?

Yes. Inbound calls on your business number are answered 24/7 in the language you choose, so a 2 am airport enquiry is answered and recorded like any other.

### Does the AI assign a driver to the booking?

No. It collects the trip details and delivers them through Lead Feed by email, Google Sheet, webhook or API. Assigning drivers stays with your dispatcher or dispatch system.

### Can it tell the customer the fare?

Yes, if the fare comes from somewhere it can read: your Business Details, or your own fare API through Custom APIs. It does not make up a fare.

### Can the caller speak to a dispatcher?

Yes. With call transfer set up, the AI rings your dispatcher, briefs them and connects the caller. Transfer minutes are billed separately.

### Can a travel agency use AI calls for outstation packages?

Yes. The same assistant can answer package enquiries from your Business Details, and outbound campaigns can call a list of past customers about a new trip.

### What happens if the customer asks to be called back later?

A follow-up call is scheduled for the time the customer asked for, in the same language as the original call.
