To follow up with customers means doing what you said you would, at the time you said it: the call-back, the quote, the reminder, the "main aapko kal batata hoon". Most businesses promise generously and follow up rarely, and customers notice. MySA Business keeps those promises for you on AI calls: it schedules the call-back the customer asked for, places it in their language, sends the details on WhatsApp and leaves a summary for your team.

Every election season, wherever you live in India, the same rituals come round, whoever is asking for your vote. This article borrows those rituals for a few lessons in customer follow-up. The joke is on businesses, not on anyone who stands for office.

## The manifesto: what your business promises

Every campaign starts with promises, and so does every sale. Listen to your own counter for a day:

- **"Kal tak quote bhej denge."**
- **"Stock aate hi call karenge."**
- **"Service ke baad ek baar check kar lenge."**
- **"Aapka order, humara vaada."**

None of these is a lie when it is said. The trouble is what happens next: the person who said it gets busy, the note is in someone's phone, and "kal" becomes "next week" becomes "who was that customer again". Vaade kam, follow-up zyada is a better rule than the other way round.

A useful exercise: write down the five promises your team makes most often. Each one is a follow-up you owe. Most of them can be handled by an AI call, a scheduled reminder or a WhatsApp message, and the rest need a person with a reminder.

## The rally: lots of noise, little listening

The rally is loud, and nobody on the stage hears the crowd. Many businesses run their marketing the same way: one big offer blast, then no idea who was interested.

An AI call works the other way round, because it listens. After every connected call, MySA Business gives your team an **AI Summary** in [Call Logs](/docs/call-logs), with chips for interest, outcome, sentiment and talk time, plus the recording. Calls where the customer clearly needs a person are flagged **Needs a human**. Sentiment is marked positive, neutral or negative, so you can filter for the unhappy calls first instead of finding out from a one-star review.

You can also call just to listen. Write a campaign purpose such as "ask whether last week's AC service was done properly, and note any complaint", upload the customer list, and read the summaries. That is a feedback round without a clipboard.

## Door-to-door, without the loudspeaker van

The door-to-door visit is the most effective part of any campaign, and the most tiring. A business does its own version every time someone sits with a list and dials, one number after another, saying the same thing forty times.

A [campaign](/features/campaigns) in MySA Business is door-to-door without the van and without the sore throat. You upload a list, write the purpose once, pick the language, and the AI calls each customer, answers questions from your Business Details and records what each one said. A **Scheduled** campaign spreads a long list over several days, or calls the same list again on the dates you pick, for example before an offer ends. The details are in [Campaigns](/docs/campaigns).

And the van's best feature, ringing everyone at 7 AM on a Sunday, is one you can switch off. Set your [DND hours](/docs/dnd) and outbound calls that fall inside the window are held until it ends, not dropped.

## Calling only when you want something

The phone call that comes only when someone needs your vote is a familiar joke. The business version is just as familiar: a shop that calls only when it has stock to clear, and never to ask whether the last purchase worked.

Customers can tell the difference. A business that also calls with a festive wish, a service reminder or a "how was it" is the one they pick up for. With MySA Business:

- **Festive wishes.** A campaign can call your list with a short greeting, as in our guide to [Diwali wishes for customers](/blog/diwali-wishes-for-customers). If Broadcasts is enabled for your workspace, you can also send an approved WhatsApp template to a list from your own number; see [WhatsApp Broadcasts](/docs/whatsapp-broadcasts).
- **Reminders that help the customer.** A **Scheduled** campaign with **Every few days** calls the same list again on a regular gap, for payments, renewals or service dates.
- **Visit reminders.** When a customer says "main Sunday showroom aaunga", MySA notes the plan and, with **Visit reminders** switched on, rings on the day to check they are still coming. See [Visit reminders](/docs/visit-reminders).

## After the results: the promise that actually gets kept

After the results, the crowds and the vans disappear, and that is exactly the moment a customer remembers you by. The call-back after the sale counts more than the call before it.

When a customer says "kal 3 baje call karna" on an AI call, MySA adds it to **Calling → Follow-ups** with that time. The call-back reuses the same assistant and purpose, so it picks up where the conversation stopped, and it is spoken in the language the customer was last spoken to in. Switch on **Auto-callback** and it dials at the scheduled time; with it off, the row waits for someone to press **Call now**.

> **Example**
>
> **AI:** Namaste, main ABC Cooling se bol rahi hoon. Aapne kaha tha aaj shaam 6 baje call karun.
>
> **Customer:** Haan, AC service ka kya hua? Rate bata do.
>
> **AI:** Ji, service ki price list WhatsApp par bhej doon? Aap aaram se dekh lijiye.
>
> **Customer:** Haan, bhej do. Thank you.

The business is made up. After the call, the team sees the summary and sentiment in Call Logs. The price list reaches WhatsApp through **On Call Messaging**: with a rule on the trigger **During the call, when the customer asks**, the assistant sends your approved template while still on the line. If you have no WhatsApp Business account of your own, [MySA WhatsApp](/docs/mysa-whatsapp) sends it from MySA's number, paid per message from your wallet; the price is shown in the console, and you can [talk to sales](/contact) for volume pricing. Our guide to [sending WhatsApp after a call without WhatsApp API](/blog/whatsapp-after-call-without-api) covers the setup.

Two kinds of follow-up wait for your team instead of the AI:

- **Action required.** The customer asked something your Business Details do not cover, and the AI promised to find out rather than guess. Press **Answer**, type the reply, press **Save & schedule call**, and the AI gives the customer your answer on the call-back.
- **Call from a person.** The customer asked to speak to someone on your team. MySA never dials these with the AI; a colleague calls and presses **Mark called back**.

More on the "baad me call karna" moment is in [how to handle call me later](/blog/how-to-handle-call-me-later), and the overview is on [AI follow-up calls](/features/follow-ups).

## Your follow-up report card

Results day comes for every campaign. For a business it can come every Monday. Check three things:

| Look at | What it tells you |
| --- | --- |
| **Follow-ups**, status **Due now** | Promises past their time that nobody has kept yet |
| **Follow-ups**, **Call from a person** | Customers waiting for a human, usually promised within about half an hour |
| **Call Logs**, sentiment **Negative** | Customers who were unhappy on the call and need attention first |

If the **Due now** count keeps growing, either switch on Auto-callback or give someone the job of clearing it daily.

## What works today, and what it does not do

| Works today | Does not do |
| --- | --- |
| Call-backs at the time the customer asked, in their language | Remember promises your staff make on their own phones |
| Campaigns that call a list once, or again on later dates | Call inside your DND hours; those calls wait |
| A WhatsApp template sent during or after a call | Send SMS or email follow-ups |
| AI summary, sentiment and recording for every connected call | Store a turn-by-turn transcript |
| Questions it cannot answer passed to you as **Action required** | Make up prices or offers you did not write down |

## Getting started

1. [Create a workspace](/signup) and verify your mobile number to get ₹100 of Test credit in the separate **Test** environment.
2. Write your Business Details, including the things your team promises most often.
3. Press **Try now** so the AI rings your own phone, say "kal shaam 6 baje call karna", then open **Follow-ups**.
4. Go **Live**, top up the prepaid wallet, set your DND hours and decide whether to switch on **Auto-callback**.

Calls of 10 seconds or less are free; longer calls are billed per started minute, and a call-back is billed like any other call. The rate for your workspace is shown in the console. [Talk to sales](/contact) for volume pricing.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is this article about political campaigns?

No. The election-season rituals are only a metaphor. MySA Business is for businesses calling their own customers, and this article does not describe any political calling service.

### How do I follow up with customers without a big team?

Let the AI place the routine call-backs and reminders, and keep your team for the follow-ups marked Action required or Call from a person.

### Will the AI call back at the exact time the customer asked?

With Auto-callback on, the follow-up dials at its scheduled time, unless that time falls inside your DND hours, in which case it waits until the window ends. With Auto-callback off, it waits for someone to press Call now.

### Can I see what each customer said without listening to every recording?

Yes. Each connected call has an AI summary with interest, outcome and sentiment in Call Logs. Turn-by-turn transcripts are not stored.

### Do I need my own WhatsApp Business account to send details after a call?

No. MySA WhatsApp sends approved templates from MySA's own number, charged per message from your wallet. Customers' replies do not come to your Conversations, though.
