Karwa Chauth salon booking is the rush of calls a beauty parlour, mehendi artist or salon gets in the days before the festival: "kal shaam mehendi ka slot hai?", "facial aur makeup dono ho jayega?", "kitne baje aa jaun?". With MySA Business, an AI voice assistant answers your number, checks your calendar, books the free time and sends the customer a WhatsApp confirmation. Your team keeps the mehendi, the makeup and the customers in the chair.

## Why the week before Karwa Chauth is hard on a small parlour

Most panchangs place Karwa Chauth on Thursday, 29 October in 2026. Confirm the date and moonrise time in your local panchang, because a few sources differ. Whatever the date, the pattern in a parlour is the same:

- **Everyone wants the same evening.** Mehendi is usually put on the day before, so the last two evenings fill first.
- **The phone rings while hands are busy.** A mehendi artist cannot pick up with henna on both hands, and the customer calls the next parlour.
- **The same questions all day.** Rates for bridal and simple mehendi, how long it takes, whether a group of four can come together.
- **Slots booked and then missed.** A customer books, forgets, and the slot sits empty while others were turned away.

Sweet shops see the same rush on sargi and thali orders, and saree and jewellery shops on the weekend before. The calls are short. There are just too many of them in a few days.

## Let the AI book slots on your calendar

**Appointments** is a calendar for a business that sells time on a seat, such as a salon chair or a mehendi artist. You set your services with their time and charge, how many customers you can serve at once (one **seat** per chair or artist), your hours and your lunch break.

With **AI books on calls** ticked in **Settings > Hours & rules**, the AI on your [inbound calls](/features/inbound-calls) can check free times, book, move and cancel. It follows your own rules: minimum notice, how far ahead customers can book, and no slots in your lunch break. It makes at most one booking per call.

> **Example**
>
> **Customer:** Hello, 28 tareekh ko shaam 4 baje mehendi ka slot milega? Hum do log hain.
>
> **AI:** 4 baje do seat free nahi hain. 5 baje dono ke liye jagah hai. Kya main 5 baje book kar doon?
>
> **Customer:** Haan, 5 baje kar dijiye. Naam Priya likh lijiye.
>
> **AI:** Ho gaya. Aapko WhatsApp par confirmation aa jayega.

The parlour and the customer are made up. The booking appears on the calendar straight away with a small robot icon, and the customer gets a WhatsApp with the service, date, time, your address and your Google Maps location. The phone number is taken from the call, so the AI never asks for it.

Appointments is switched on per business. If you do not see it under **Calling**, [raise a support ticket](/docs/getting-help#raise-a-support-ticket). The full setup is in the [Appointments docs](/docs/appointments), and the [salon appointment booking](/industries/salon-appointment-booking) page shows how it fits a salon.

## Remind customers so the evening slots are not wasted

Under **Settings > Reminders**, each confirmed booking can get:

- **WhatsApp reminder:** a message before the booking, from 30 minutes to 1 day ahead (3 hours to start with).
- **Reminder call:** the AI rings, says the service and time, and asks if the customer is coming. It is off to start with, and each call is charged like a visit reminder call.

The answer lands on the booking: **Confirmed on reminder call**, **Said not coming** or **Reminder call: no answer**. A "not coming" is a flag for your team, not a cancellation, so you can call the next customer on your waiting list yourself. More on timing in [automated appointment reminder calls](/blog/automated-appointment-reminder-calls).
## Send your Karwa Chauth offer to past customers

Customers who came last year are the easiest to bring back. If **Broadcasts** is enabled for your workspace, you can send one approved WhatsApp template, such as "Karwa Chauth special: mehendi + facial, slots open for 27 and 28 October", to a CSV of past customers from your own WhatsApp Business number. You can send it now or schedule it, and anyone on your **Opted out** list is left out. See [WhatsApp Broadcasts](/docs/whatsapp-broadcasts).

For the wording of a festive message, [Diwali wishes for customers](/blog/diwali-wishes-for-customers) has ready lines you can adapt. Send the offer a few days ahead, not on the festival day itself.

## When a customer says "baad mein call karna"

Some callers are not ready to book: "mummy se pooch ke batati hoon", "kal 11 baje call karna". MySA adds these to **Calling > Follow-ups** with the time they asked for, and with **Auto-callback** on it rings them back at that time. If a customer wants to speak to the owner about a bridal package, the row is marked **Call from a person** and MySA does not dial it. See [how to handle "call me later"](/blog/how-to-handle-call-me-later).

## What works today, and what it does not do

| Works today | Does not do |
| --- | --- |
| Booking free slots on your calendar during a call | Know rates or services you did not add |
| A WhatsApp confirmation for each Live booking | Take an advance or payment |
| WhatsApp reminders and reminder calls before the slot | Cancel a booking because a customer said "not coming" on a reminder call |
| Sending an approved offer template to a past-customer list, if Broadcasts is enabled | Send your mehendi designs or photos for you |
| Callbacks at the time the customer asked | Call inside your [DND hours](/docs/dnd) |

These are scenarios, not customer stories.

## Getting started

Karwa Chauth is a few days away, so keep the setup small: one calendar, your main services and the evening slots.

1. [Create a workspace](/signup) and verify your mobile number to get ₹100 of Test credit in the separate **Test** environment.
2. Open **Appointments**, pick **salon** as the business type, and set your services, charges, seats and hours.
3. Press **Try now**: the AI rings your own phone. Ask for a mehendi slot the way a customer would.
4. Go **Live**, top up the prepaid wallet, switch on inbound calls for your number and tick **AI books on calls**.

Calls of 10 seconds or less are free; longer calls are billed per started minute. The rate for your workspace is shown in the console. [Talk to sales](/contact) for volume pricing.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I set this up before Karwa Chauth this week?

The calendar setup takes six short steps in one sitting. Appointments is switched on per business, so if it is not in your menu, raise a support ticket first.

### Will the AI book two customers on the same chair?

No. Two bookings can never hold the same seat at the same time. If a time is full, the AI offers the nearest free time.

### Can a group of friends book mehendi together?

Yes. A group takes that many seats at the same time, up to the Largest group you set in the booking rules.

### Does the customer get a WhatsApp from my own number?

Booking confirmations and reminders go from MySA's WhatsApp number. Broadcast offers go from your own WhatsApp Business number.

### Can the AI take an advance for a bridal mehendi booking?

No. It books the slot and sends the confirmation. Payments and advances stay with your team.
